Serving Those Who Served Massapequa

AMVETS Post 88 connects Long Island veterans with benefits, community, and brotherhood on Broadway.

About Us

On Broadway in Massapequa, Post 88 has been a gathering place for veterans, National Guard members, and Reservists who earned something most people never fully understand: the right to ask for help from people who get it. AMVETS Post 88 is part of a national organization built on a simple premise: veterans who fought for earned entitlements should actually receive them, and no one should have to navigate that fight alone.

The post runs deeper than paperwork and benefits counseling, though it does that too. Members here have organized charity rides to raise money for cancer research, collected Christmas presents and food donations for veterans in need, and maintained an ongoing relationship with Northport Veterans Hospital to support those still receiving care. The Sons of AMVETS youth program carries that spirit into the next generation.

Open seven days a week, the post at 692 Broadway is the kind of place where you walk in as a stranger and leave as a member. The space is available for private events, the flag retirement ceremonies are conducted with full respect, and CPR and First Aid certification is actively promoted because caring for your community does not stop at the door.

What We Offer

Veteran benefits assistance sits at the core of what Post 88 does. Members can access guidance on securing earned entitlements and connect with career placement resources, whether they separated last year or decades ago. Membership is open to veterans, National Guard members, and Reservists.

Beyond individual support, the post runs community programs that reach outward. Donations of Christmas presents and food items go to veterans in need. The Sons of AMVETS program gives younger members a structured way to serve. Flag retirement ceremonies are conducted with proper military honors. The post also promotes CPR, First Aid, and AED certification so members are equipped to help in any situation.

The post's event space is available for rental, making it a venue with real meaning behind it. Community rides, fundraisers, and local gatherings have all found a home here. If you are a veteran or active military member in the Massapequa area looking for a post that actually does the work, Post 88 is worth walking through the door.

"Don’t book here! I booked my granddaughter’s First Communion for May 2 there on Feb.! I got a call today telling me they double booked the room! I had to have the room 4 hours earlier than planned! I have a contract and all! Now with about 10 days left I have no place to have the party! Disgusting! I found out one of their friends thought they had the room! So they threw me out! Nick the man who rented the room to me , very untrustworthy! He said the other people booked first! I saw the calendar when I booked it!!! No other party that whole day!!! He blatantly lied!!! Only gave one star because it wouldn’t let me post NO STARS!!!!"

"It’s unfortunate that this place allows their members to sit out front and enjoy the neighborhood when they can’t be respectful! While walking my dog, there was a group of men, along with two women sitting at a table. And one of the older men felt the need to make a lewd and sexist comment! It’s disgusting and disrespectful, and even worse coming from a place where I normally RESPECT Veterans!!"

"I wouldn’t consider this place again for the simple matter that the person in charge of rental agreement was rude and drunk at the time. We were about to book a date for the hall, I had to step out for 1 minute to confirm with my husband. I come back in and he said “I don’t want to host your party anymore , get out of here.”"
